2024
Photobook, 8.5 × 11 inches, 36 pages
The characters “林” (wood) and “夕” (dusk) together form the Chinese character “梦” (dream).
This is the keyword for entering my photobook that recapitulates my impression of Shenyang, the city where I lived for 4 years for my university studies.

On Being a Brokie / 穷鬼宣言
2023, in collaboration with Elvin Wang
Paper, 17x29 cm.
Recently, Bao Wang observed a curious trend: more and more people around him are self-identifying as 穷鬼 (brokies). At first glance, this might seem troubling. Yet, as Bao delved deeper into their world, the philosophy behind being a brokie began to reveal itself.
To better articulate this burgeoning identity, Bao Wang interviewed self-proclaimed brokies and crafted this manifesto.
It’s important to note that the term “brokie” is a nuanced translation of the Chinese word 穷鬼, which literally means “poor ghost.” It carries cultural connotations far removed from figures like Andrew Tate or other associations the English term might evoke.
This manifesto is not just a guide—it’s an exploration of what it truly means to embrace life as a brokie.

Break It!!
2021
Screen printing on wood, 29x17cm; book, 29x17cm
I produced a merch of the movie Fist of Fury 精武门. An instruction book is accompanied to guide the buyers to break the board like Kong Fu masters -- if the high kick that Bruce Lee did in the movie is too challenging.

The Invisible School project
2020 - 2021
Paper, dimension variable, 7 pages
This project is within the scope of a collective initiative hosted by ENSA Bourges aiming to explore and reflect on the history of the old, demolished school site of ENSA Bourges in 1976.
My focus for this project is the evolution of pedagogy, particularly through the use of plaster sculptures. These sculptures can still be found in the attic of the current school site, where they have been sealed and abandoned since the 1980s. This change coincided with the decision by the French Culture Minister in the 1980s to transform the classical national art educational system into a contemporary one.
My project consists of two parts. In part one, I wrote a short story of my engagement in the history of drawing plaster sculptures; then in part two, I aimed to extend the history by organizing a drawing session for current ENSA Bourges students to draw one of these deserted plasters once more.
In French, the word for story and history is the same (histoire). I am convinced that our stories (histoires) will eventually shape the body of a new history (Histoire).
The installation view was taken on the occasion of the DNSEP exhibition of ENSA Bourges in 2021.

Comment Décorer un Mur / How to decorate a wall
2019 - 2021Book, 14.5 × 21 cm, 59 pages; installation
This book attempts to reconstitute a fictional Russian guidebook that teaches Chinese people to decorate walls in Japanese-built arsenal dormitories.
As a follow-up action, I decorated walls in the styles that the book instructed.
